Springs

The machines are designed to use springs as resistance, the chart shows the calibration of each different coloured spring over the distance that it is stretched. In any session the body moves in all its planes of motion, the instructor uses the springs to help the client or to work the client harder in precise areas of the body. The springs and carriage movement give the impression of ‘gliding’. You are working much harder than you think you are or than you could if you were training elsewhere.

You can see by the chart that the springs allow you to work at really high resistance relatively easily and safely because of the way you are positioned on the machine. The springs and carriage movement give the impression of "Gliding" as you are working much harder than you could say in a gym and it doesn’t feel like it.
